BDC Delegation to Beijing

The BDC dispatched a high-level delegation to Beijing from 23 to 25 August 2006. The 12-member delegation was led by Chairman Mr. Paul Yin and Vice-Chairman Ms. Shirley Chan, and the Honorary Advisory was Mr. Wang Hui, Deputy Director-General of Commercial Office of Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR. Other delegates included Mr. Dennis Ng, Mr. Simon Wong, Mr. Kevin Lau, Ms. Lee Jai Ying and representatives of selected BDC members.

During the visit, the delegation was warmly received by top-ranking officials of branding-related departments of the Central Government, including Vice-Minister of Ministry of Commerce Mr. Liao Xiaoqi, Vice-Minister of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Mr. Ge Zhirong, Vice-Minister of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) Mr. Li Dongsheng, Director General of Trademark Office of SAIC Mr. An Qinghu, China Federation of Industrial Economics Senior Vice-Chairman Mr. Wang Qinping, and Director of the Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing Mr. Thomas Tso. While better understanding the latest polices and development in the Mainland, the delegation also had fruitful discussions with Mainland officials on the possibility of cross-border cooperation in the arena of branding.

The BDC also held a press briefing on  6 September 2006 to give the press a summarized account of the Beijing trip.
