Branding To Win Seminar 2022: Anew.Brand-new Start

The Hong Kong Brand Development Council (BDC), the Trade and Industry Department (TID) of HKSAR Government, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), and the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) joined hands in organising their annual joint event “Branding To Win Seminar” on 20 July 2022. This serial seminar was in its 17th running.

Under the banner of “Anew‧Brand-new Start”, the Seminar started with an analysis by Dr Sherriff Luk, Professor of Marketing of Emlyon Business School, who expounded the new business paradigms and brand ecosystem of Greater Bay Area in the post-pandemic era. The second speaker Mr. Derek Yuen, Partner, Business Reporting and Sustainability cum Head of Industrial Markets, elaborated on the latest trends of incorporating ESG and sustainable practices into business operations. The third speaker was Mr. Tony Lau, Co-founder & Executive Director of Vplus Studio Corporation Limited; and he demonstrated the prospect of Metaverse as a powerful avenue to promoting brands by quoting several real cases.

The Seminar also featured a succinct speech by Mr Joseph Chow, Honorary Legal Advisor of the Hong Kong Brand Development Council and Partner of Wellington Legal, who illustrated the importance and effective methods of intellectual property protection in the virtual world; and Mr Vincent Cheung, Executive Director, General Manager and Head of Licensing Operations of Semk shared the success story of “DuckVerse”, a new experiment of local brand “B.Duck” in exploring the new horizon of Metaervse and NFT marketing. Vice Chairman of the BDC Dr Ellis Wong also moderated a Q&A session to bring the Seminar to a close.

Chairman of the BDC Dr Eward Chan, MH delivered welcome remarks at the beginning of the Seminar, which was followed by a souvenir presentation session. Assistant Director-General of the TID Ms Christine Wai, Chief Executive Officer of the BDC Mr Ralph Chow, and Director of Merchandise Trade and Innovation & External Relations of the TDC Ms Smiley Lam presented the Certificates of Appreciation to speakers on behalf of the Organisers. 

The “Branding to Win Seminar 2022” was conducted online and offline simultaneously, and it attracted near 200 participants.
