Mr Lee Kum Sheung founded “Lee Kum Kee” in Nan Shui, Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China in 1888. Upholdi ng the “Zero To lerance Qual i t y Management Philosophy:100-1=0”, Lee Kum Kee sauces passed through stringent tests for quality, safety and flavour, and had been selected for use on “Shenzhou” spacecrafts since 2012. In 2022, it became the first food manufacturer to receive the Nominee Award of “Guangdong Provincial Government Quality Award”, while the oyster sauce making technique was inscribed on the list of “Intangible Cultural Heritage” of Guangdong Province. In 2024, Lee Kum Kee became the exclusive Official Sauce and Condiment Partner of “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants”, and was selected as one of the first batch of “Guangdong Time-Honoured Brands”. In 2026, it collaborated with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to launch the “Forever Flavours Project”, in an attempt to establish global archive of flavour memories.
Xinhui production base of Lee Kum Kee was recognized as “National Green Factory” by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2018; and it became the first in fermented food industry globally that received “LEED” Platinum certification in 2020. Lee Kum Kee has since 2022 signed up for the “ESG Pledge” organised by the CMA and was honoured with the “Hong Kong ESG Grand Award” in 2023 and 2025.
