Established in 1963, Kum Shing is the only private enterprise in Hong Kong that provides comprehensive engineering solutions in power generation, transmission, distribution to utilisation, assisting the power companies in achieving a world-class supply reliability of over 99.999%. It also offers a full range of customised and specialised services in civil engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, electricity supply and public lighting to clients, ranging from utilities, transportation sector to departments of the HKSAR Government
Drawing upon its rich experience in the fields of mechanical, electrical and civil engineering extensive expertise, Kum Shing serves Hong Kong tirelessly every day, from underground cabling projects on busy streets to streetlight network across the city, as well as heavy machinery and high-voltage electrical engineering for power plants and stations. Over the past decade, it has also contributed to the development of local railway network. Kum Shing's major customers include CLP, HK Electric, MTR Corporation, the Airport Authority, as well as Environmental Protection Department, Drainage Services Department, and Highways Department of the HKSAR Government.
To support the Government's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, Kum Shing has pressed ahead with the development of environmental infrastructure in recent years. It built biogas power generator units and heat recovery steam generators for Government departments, in line with the sustainable policy of "turning waste into energy" . In 2023, Kum Shing introduced "ZETTA" , a new venture providing fast electric vehicles charging solutions, which also serves as a joint effort with transportation, technology sector and other stakeholders to promote electric vehicles and zero-carbon transportation.
While being the first construction company to have won the "Hong Kong Management Association Quality Award — Gold Award" , Kum Shing received a number of accolades over the years, such as "Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme — Gold Award" , "HKCA Hong Kong Construction Environmental Awards", "United Nations SDG Achievement Awards". It has attained "ISO 45001", "ISO 14001" and "ISO 9001" certifications, a testimony to its fruitful efforts in maintaining the highest standards in respect of occupational safety, environmental performance and service quality.
